Did you know that many people’s New Year Resolution is to find love? If you are reading this- I bet this may be on your list too. And I also suspect that this may not be the first year you have made this goal.

So why is it that the majority of people make New Year’s intentions and set New Year’s goals just to have them fail or be abandoned within a matter of months?

Well there are three main reasons that people do not accomplish their New Year’s Resolutions. They are:

  • * You try to do it yourself.
  • * You don’t have a plan for accomplishing your goal.
  • * You don’t address the underlying issues that prevent you from accomplishing your goal.

Well the good news is that here are the five things you can do to make your New Year’s Resolution to find true love come true!

  1. Get Resolution from the Past!

Having unresolved issues from a past relationship is one of the main reasons people are blocked from new love. Think about this- if you have broken up with someone but still think about him/her regularly are you really free from this relationship? Are you really available to a new relationship with your energy focused on the past?

Even if you are no longer together, you are expending valuable energy on feelings of regret, anger, hurt or attachment. This is valuable energy that could be directed toward creating a new relationship in the future.

  2. Get Sexy Now!

Remember a time when you first fell in love. Everything in your life seemed better. You glowed as you walked around town. The opposite sex was drawn to you like flies on honey. You felt sexy and desirable.

Well sexiness is a state of mind and you can feel sexy and desirable all the time- including right now!

Sensuality is a natural part of your being. Everyone has this quality including you. You don’t need to be a size 6 or be a certain age. Or be in a romantic relationship.

Just need to access your sensuality and allow yourself to express it in a healthy way.

  3. Get Engaged- With Your Life!

Do you want to get engaged? One thing I always tell my clients is if you want to become engaged- get engaged with yourself and your life. Don’t settle into a boring and unsatisfied life wishing things were different. It is your responsibility to create your life. Most of the population lives a life of quiet despair. This does not have to be you. There are so many opportunities available to you all you have to do is take them.

Do you have that friend who never has a problem hooking up with a guy or girl? They may make a hundred mistakes and go from relationship to relationship but meeting someone is never an issue for them. If you think about it, I bet they have one thing in common. They are OUT THERE. They are not afraid to approach someone they find attractive. They are not afraid to try new things or go to new places. They do not let fear hold them back.

  4. Get Rid of Your Bad Habits!

Bad habits are THE number one thing that block you from love. PERIOD! Bad habits keep you from fulfilling your dreams and enable you to live your life in mediocrity. Bad habits allow you to keep from engaging in your life and engaging in activities that allow you to meet your true love.

So take a minute and ask yourself these questions.

What is your “bad” habit – is it watching TV? Working too much? Spending money? Overeating?

How much time per week do you spend engaging in this habit?
What feelings are you avoiding by engaging in this habit?
Are you using food or work as a substitute for love or to deal with feelings of loneliness?

Whenever you want to let go a bad habit the feelings you are trying to avoid will all surface. So if you are lonely and stop over-eating, the loneliness you are avoiding will resurface. If you don’t have a plan in place to develop meaningful relationships or find the relationship your heart longs for chances are you will revert back to your old habit. And then your New Year’s resolution will fade away.

  5. Get Support!

The worst thing you can do as single person is isolate yourself.

No matter where you live- what your town is like I guarantee that there are like minded people and a community for you to belong to. So when you are tempted to fall off the wagon you have a community of positive people to support you.

Join a fitness club or gym that holds classes other than your standard exercise classes. For example, join a yoga studio that has a book club, holds meditations, and monthly workshops in addition to their yoga and pilates classes.

Many cities also have professional organizations you can join that provide networking events, charity events and other ways for you to meet quality people to support you toward your dreams.
